Bajaj Energy Limited

Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar made a strategic diversification move by expanding its power generation capacity, this time into merchant power, as well as making a foray into coal mining through its Indonesian subsidiary. BHSL through its SPV, Bajaj Energy Limited set up greenfield coal based power generation plants of 90 MW each in the vicinity of 5 of its existing sugar units. These thermal power plants under Bajaj Energy were commissioned in early 2012.

All units are being operated by 574 technical and non-technical experienced employees. Each station is being headed by a unit head - GM (power plant) with its corporate office at Noida. BEL provides one of the best working atmospheres with a well-established and maintained infrastructure for professional, social and personal development for its staff and their families. BEL also provides school facilities for the little ones through its CSR initiative, the BAJAJ PUBLIC SCHOOL at its Maqsoodapur and Barkhera units.

The company is committed to export power to the UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), with all its thermal power plants running on Indian coal through CCL linkages. Various coal railway sidings situated for its three central and two eastern units are Roza and Chennati for central units and Katra for its eastern units.

The yearly target set for each station is defined as 85 % PLF commencing total targeted unit generation of 648000000 KWH per year.

In addition, BEL also encourages healthy competition among its five units to motivate and create a conducive environment among its staff. The periodically organized technical and personal development sessions by HR department of BEL enhances the chances of learning and exploring the abilities of each individual. BEL has established itself in power trading and is now a well renowned name in the field of power trading.

BEL enrols newly groomed GET’s by conducting campus selection at various renowned technical institutes like NPTI, NIT colleges, JIPT and HBTI Kanpur etc. We provide better opportunities for the young trainees so that they can prove themselves and establish a successful career.
