Bajaj Legacy

Bajaj Group

Bajaj Group is proud to reflect on its rich history and the legacy of excellence that has guided us throughout our journey. Since our inception, we have been committed to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of our country, while also fostering business innovation for the nation’s growth and development.

At the heart of our heritage lies Bajaj Sugar, our oldest company, and a symbol of our deep connection to the land, the people, and the urge to make India self-reliant. Incorporated in 1931 on Mahatma Gandhi’s advice with a purpose to save India’s foreign exchange on sugar imports, Bajaj Sugar has been a pillar of the sugar industry. A company that started with 2 sugar mills was expanded to 14 sugar mills in 2007 to cater to the country’s high sugar demand and to serve the sugarcane farming community of 6-8 lakh families in Uttar Pradesh. These 14 factories have not just powered development of village economies around the mills but also provided jobs to locals. Bajaj Sugar has also acquired Asia’s oldest sugar mill launched by the Britishin 1903 in Pratappur, making it India’s and Asia's oldest sugar mill that has been operative for more than 120 years now.

Infact, we are proud of the fact that Bajaj Sugar is the first Ethanol producer in India that provided the fuel needs of Indian army during World War II.

Bajaj Group’s second listed company Bajaj Consumer Care is again a brand established from Gandhi Ji’s sevaashram back in 1950s. The company has been serving consumers not just in India but even abroad.

Bajaj Energy, a private power producer in India, set up 6 power plants including the 1,980 MW Lalitpur Power Generation Company Limited to meet the power demand of Uttar Pradesh.

While Uttar Pradesh has been our business ground for more than a century, Sikar district in Rajasthan is where the philanthropy and CSR ground was laid back in1963. Today, the foundation has touched the lives of more than 20lakh farming families in Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

s we look back on our heritage, we are proud to see how every Bajaj Company has evolved and adapted to changing times and needs, while remaining true to its roots and values. From pioneering new technologies to promoting sustainable practices and social responsibility, Bajaj Group has set new standards of excellence in every industry and contributed to the growth and prosperity of the communities it serves. We strongly believe that our employees are the foundation of our success, and we look after their development, and well-being to ensure their continued growth and success.

As we move forward, we remain committed to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of our country, while also driving innovation, growth and excellence in all our businesses. Our heritage and values continue to guide us, inspiring us to set out towards new horizons and create fresh opportunities for ourselves and for those around us.
